Adaptive Re-use
The design respects the trapezoid/trapezium floorplan of the site. Not only the outside is shaped this way, also the inside wall reflects the angular perspective. In this way a dynamic effect is created. On al floors the hallway is continuous over the whole length of the building without interruptions, allowing a unobstructed view. Not only the main building is shaped like a trapezoid, this shape is reiterated in the ramps hanging over the excavated garden as well as the publicly open terras on the 4th floor.
To accentuate the extra floors on top of the existing one, the 4th floor has been retracted slightly. This allows for luxury separate terraces.
